High school parties powered by social media

Event Makers was the high school “business” where I took my first steps in marketing.

It all started when I finished middle school in the countryside and got into a high school in the city. I barely knew anyone, so I decided that the best way to meet a lot of people was to throw a party: the big icebreaker for the class of ‘97.

So I rented a fire station near Dębica, promoted the event on Facebook, sorted out a DJ and professional security, and threw my first party. I really did meet a ton of people.

That first party was not yet under the Event Makers name, but the next one was, run together with a friend from school. And so, from fire stations to the biggest venues in Dębica, we ran all kinds of parties across the three years of high school. From the big ones promoted on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, to birthdays, New Year’s parties and smaller, more private events.

It was also the first serious money I earned, part of which we reinvested into growing the parties.
